總統府發言人陳以信表示，馬英九總統將於明天前往太平島，此行也邀請總統當選人蔡英文派員參加。陳以信：『(原音) 馬英九總統將於天候狀況許可的前提下，於明(28)日前往我國南沙太平島訪視並慰勞駐島人員。外交部已將此規劃正式通知相關友邦，總統府曾永權秘書長並已致電民進黨，代表馬總統邀請總統當選人民進黨蔡英文主席派員參加。』
總統府今天(27日)宣布，由於農曆春節將屆，馬英九總統將於明天前往我國南沙太平島訪視，慰勞駐島人員。總統府並已與民進黨前秘書長林錫耀聯繫，邀請總統當選人蔡英文派員一起登太平島。

陳以信露天網拍教學指出，太平島是中華民國的固有領土，馬總統從未排除過前往視察，陳水扁前總統也曾於任內登島視察。由於專機機位有限，此行並未安排媒體隨行，馬總統將於返台後召開記者會對外說明。
